My name is

Susan Cardillo.

I am an educator/activist/artist

As a teacher of Digital Media with a doctorate in computer science, I see my place in the field, as that of an instructional guide in helping students of Digital Media Communications to understand the technologies available to them and the work environments, in order to help them create interesting, innovative, creative interactive stories. And most importantly- get jobs.
Currently I spend much of my time working in Sports Media as it is a place for my students to get work in the industry.  Living in Connecticut gives us a unique advantage to work with companies like ESPN, NBC Sports,CBS Sports, the WWE and YES.  I try to marry my work here with social causes. We are currently working with Special Olympics to create content for the future.  This not only give my students experience filming, editing and gameday coverage of live sports but it helps a wonderful organization with content that is needed for their website and social media.
I am always looking to connect with leaders in the sports production field to find out what they are looking for in their hires and how I can teach to that.  This has proven very successful with ESPN, NBC Sports, CBS Sports, MLB/NHL. NFL Productions and MSG as I have students working with each of these companies now.

Interactive documentary for social change- I try my best to instill a sense of community obligation in my students when working in media.  Creating projects that will develop social awareness, civic engagement and social change are all goals I set for my students.  The sports industry has always worked closely with non-profits and social change agents so my students get the education they need in producing sports media with an understanding of doing good.

I am also passionate about, "filmed theatre".  Since the pandemic I have been ask to film several musical and theatrical plays to give the actors an "audience". This combines my love and experience in theatre with my education in digital media and technology.
My Make-the-Magic(Theatre Technology) work deals with creating innovative experiences in the theatre that enhance engagement and create magic.

I look at my work as teaching students how to tell stories.  Regardless if it's theatre, news or sports, it's all about the story.  Working on research, filming/editing techniques, live "performance" and unique storytelling will enable students to work in many areas of their desired field.
