Interactive Documentaries

The most exciting project I worked on in 2019 is a Historical/Science-based documentary called Finding Matilda.  This projects is about a young college poet who was murdered during the Holocaust for being Jewish.  Matilda left behind her poetry and a diary(much like Ann Frank).  We(myself and student documentary team) followed the archeological science team to Lithuania to find her mass burial grave and answers to her senseless murder. We are now preparing for the festival circuit.

In the field of interaction my site and blog entitled Media Communications and Technology: Understanding and Implementing the New Tools of Creation in Storytelling to Change the World is a place for others to share work in the field.  It is site is a work in progress of the different areas of communications technology that I am teaching in my Advanced Media Technologies class.  I will be filling in 12 Chapters with the classes I am teaching, which include areas of; Website building, mobile, AR, VR, SEO, Social media and analytics.  I base this class around the subjects of Social Awareness/Civic Engagement and Social Change.  I am also asking the media technology community to add their thoughts and ideas to the site.  The hope is that this site grows to a place where students and teachers can go to learn the tools of interactive digital storytelling while helping others to change the world.

As a Doctoral student with a concentration in Arts and Technology through Emerging Media, I focused my research in the area of Interactive Documentaries. Here is the website housing the elements of that project and the linear documentary that used for dissertation purposes: NYT Project.

Here is a draft of the Interactive.

My first historical documentary was a straight forward  digital media documentary for the Heritage Preservation Society about the oldest home in Daytona Beach, Lilian Place.

My second historical documentary is Habersham Mill about a small mill town Demorest, Georgia.

A current personal project I am working on is based on my own journey: The Practicing Vegan.

Currently IN PROGRESS projects: (These projects are currently being worked on and by no means complete.  There is much work to do and love to give each of these projects.  This is just a sample of what is to come.)

Each Others Shoulders: An interactive site about women who have changed the world.

ViveAmerican, about Mexican culture in America.  This is a positive look at Mexican Americans, their plights, accomplishments and life here in America.  This project will be entirely web-based, using interactive, mobile and virtual reality(gaming) to tell the stories.

Peace Farm Sanctuary: This is an interactive project for social change.  The Freedom Farm Sanctuary is a virtual farm sanctuary dedicated to helping animals in need. Our animals live at farm sanctuaries around the country. We dedicate our support to these farms who are working hard to give our friends a wonderful home. Donations and Fostering funds are given directly to the farm sanctuary who's animal you donate to.
